Pizza Express

We had a lovely time this morning at Pizza Express.  All the children were in early ready to board the minibuses to go on our first Reception trip.  The chef and manager at Pizza Express in Victoria Street made us very welcome.  First the children washed their hands and put on aprons and hats ready to make pizza.  The chef showed  us how he made the dough for the pizza bases, tossing high it into the air.  The children then spread the tomato sauce and sprinkled on the cheese.  The pizzas were put into the special oven and then sliced up.  The children were given their pizzas and they all ate one slice before closing up the box to take home.

We all said a special thank you to the chef and manager before we got back on the buses to come back to school.  We brought some extra hats and boxes back to for role play.   We will all have fun playing pizza restaurant!

Brushing teeth

Most of the children are brushing their teeth in school.  They really enjoy it and have settled into the routine very well.  It takes a bit of time for everyone to do their teeth but we think it is worth it.  We know most of the children brush their teeth twice a day at home but doing it at school helps to establish good habits.    It’s also important to make sure children have less sugar in their diets – even fruit juice is bad for their teeth.

We have a list of local dentists on the door  if you need to register with one so that your child can have a six monthly check up.

Outdoor Play

We love being outside in all weathers.  We play in the playground and take part in outdoor learning.  We sometimes sit and sing songs here or read stories.  Please make sure your child always has a coat with them so that we can stay warm and dry.

Biscuit Bears

We have started to look at a new book, Biscuit Bear and because it was the Macmillan Coffee Morning this week it gave us the perfect opportunity to bake some tasty biscuits.  The children iced the biscuits and they were a very popular choice at our coffee morning and cake sale.

Wild

We have been reading Wild by Emily Hughes about a little girl who grows up in the forest looked after by the animals who live there.  This lovely book has inspired lots of fantastic artwork and exciting role play.
