Year 2 have been using role play to imagine what it is like to live on the moon. They have used super expanded noun phrases and they have thought of some great ideas. We can’t wait to apply these super ideas when writing our postcards.

What is the weather like in Sydney today?
Hot and sunny (but not as hot as a few days ago when it was more than 40 degrees C)

How does this compare to Liverpool?
It’s winter in Liverpool which is much colder (the only time I’ve been to Liverpool in the winter it snowed)

Which months are the summer season in Australia?
December, January and February

How is this different to the UK?
Those months are winter in the U.K. Our seasons are opposites.

What continent is Australia in?
Australia is its own continent also called Australia. It’s the only continent that is also a country and vice versa.

Do you know any interesting facts about Australia?
Because it is a whole different continent, many of the native animals and plants are unique to Australia including kangaroos, emus, koalas, bandicoots, echidnas, platypuses, kookaburras and most types of cockatoos. Banksia trees and most eucalyptus trees are uniquely native to Australia. Australian magpies are a different species to British magpies and have distinct warbling morning call. If you add in the laughing kookaburras, mornings in the Australian bush sound very different to anywhere else in the world.

My Diary Entry

December 8th, 2016 · No Comments · Uncategorised

Dear Diary,

Today, I moved into my new beautiful, big house. I was so excited I had been waiting for this for a very long time. My house has a creaky roof, smooth windows and lots of stairs.

After I had finished unpacking, I bumped into my new friend called Dark.
We played hide and seek and we hid in the cupboards, behind the shower curtain and in the basement. I was scared of the basement because you could hear the washing machine squeaking and rattling against the old, damp boxes.

When it went Dark, I went to bed but Dark stayed awake and spread himself against the windows and doors. How Brave!

What games will we play tomorrow?

Laszlo
